Robust metal casing; two AAA batteries (NEVER buy a recorder that doesn't take standard batteries); buttons in all the right places; very good mic; stereo in&out + USB connection. What is lacks is recording straight to MP3; bigger memory (646MB simply isn't enough). I'm sure they've sorted those problems out in the newer models though.
